Pain Management and Wellness
Renewlogie Med Spa offers trigger point injections and nerve blocks, including Stellate Ganglion Blocks, to promote overall health.
Stellate Ganglion Block
Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) is a procedure in which a local anesthetic is injected next to the stellate ganglion— a collection of the sympathetic nerves located in the neck.
The stellate ganglion helps regulate many involuntary functions such as heart rate, blood pressure and sweating. While Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) has been recognized as an FDA-approved pain-relieving treatment. Most recently, Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) has been used off-label to treat symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and depression because it helps regulate the brain's overactive sympathetic nervous system and "reset" the "fight-or-flight" response to its baseline.
Researchers believe SGB may help PTSD because the procedure decreases nerve growth factor levels, simultaneously reducing norepinephrine levels and increasing sympathetic nervous system activity.
Patient results vary. Relief may be seen in as early as 30 minutes and may last for several months.
Dr. Armen, a double board certified Interventional Pain Anesthesiologist, performs the procedure under ultrasound guidance, often working closely with the patient's psychiatrist, to ensure optimal continuity of care. Our patients report significant improvements in symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression.
Trigger Point Injection
Trigger Point Injections may help relieve myofascial pain, including tension headaches, sciatic nerve pains, or any other muscle pains. Trigger Point injections commonly involve the use of PRP, a corticosteroid, or botulinum toxin (such as Xeomin).
